Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of successor of the outgoing President of Court of Appeal.

NAN reports that he also advised Buhari to sack Service Chiefs.

Clark, represented by a former Ambassador to the Scandinavian countries, Amb. GodKnows Igali, said this in Abuja, at a book launch.

Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa is due for retirement on March 4.

Clark said the whole country and indeed the international community “is watching how Mr President will handle the next appointment for the Presidency of the Court of Appeal.

“As the current occupier bows out and the position becomes vacant on March 4, 2020, and those of the service chiefs which will soon be vacant.

“My Prayer is that Mr President will do the right thing. Religious difference has been one of the main problems causing insecurity and disunity in the country.”

Supreme Court nullifies Bayelsa governor-elect’s election, declares PDP winner

Supreme Court nullifies Bayelsa governor-elect’s election, declares PDP winner 2 hours ago 56185 views by  Aanu Adegun – The Supreme Court has sacked David Lyon and his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo of Bayelsa state – It, therefore, asked INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to the candidate with the next highest number of votes – According to the apex court, Degi-Eremieoyo’s forgery has affected the legitimacy of the joint ticket with Lyon The Supreme Court has nullified the election of the Governor-elect of Bayelsa State, David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The apex court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to the candidate with the next highest number of votes in the governorship election. As a result of this judgment, Diri Duoye, becomes the next governor of Bayelsa state. This is as a result of his wide geographical spread. The judgment was delivered by Justice Ejembi Ekwo. According to the apex court, APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo, is an illegitimate candidate in the election because he submitted forged certificates to INEC. With this, the Supreme Court says Degi-Eremienyo’s disqualification had infected the joint ticket which he shared with David Lyon during the November 16, 2019 election. Meanwhile, Nigerians have started reacting to the news. While some people call it terrible news, others blamed the deputy for presenting a forged certificate to INEC. According to Nelson Mark, the news is terrible. “This is terrible, how can your deputy use forge document to contest an election, I am quite disappointed. All the prayers and fasting Bayelsan women did for you and TB Joshua prayer didn’t work. This is to tell you God isn’t in politics. Don’t let any pastor fool you,” he said. Meanwhile, Omisore Moses lauded the courts for doing good jobs. “It is clear that the courts are doing their job fairly. Sentiments don’t win cases, presentation of facts and arguments do the winning, no matter the surface appearance of the case. Kudos to the judiciary,” he said. Meanwhile, had reported that the legal tussle between the governor-elect of Bayelsa state, David Lyon, and the former federal lawmaker, Heineken Lokpobiri, over the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, was finally put to rest. Ante Rebic opened the scoring for Milan but the 10-man hosts were denied a first-leg victory by Cristiano Ronaldo at San Siro.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a last-gasp penalty to earn Juventus a scarcely deserved 1-1 draw against 10-man Milan in Thursday’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg at San Siro.

It was the prolific Portugal forward’s athletic effort that struck the arm of Davide Calabria to earn the spot-kick, awarded after a VAR check, and he duly rifled home in added time.

‘Pogba will surprise Man United fans on his return’ – Kondogbia

The Valencia midfielder is confident his former France teammate will bounce back to top form when his ongoing injury lay-off ends

Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has no doubts that Paul Pogba will be back to his best when he returns to action for Manchester United, and is confident that his former teammate will even surprise one or two supporters when his injury problems are fully behind him.

Pogba hasn’t featured for United since Boxing Day, and amidst ongoing speculation about his future, he appears unlikely to take to the pitch before next month following January’s ankle surgery.

While Pogba has managed just eight Premier League appearances all term, his former teammate Kondogbia has backed the 26-year-old to hit top form again when he is cleared to return.

“I’m not worried about Paul,” Kondogbia assured Goal. “He’s shown, previously, that he’s a great footballer who knows how to do great things.

“We know football; once you’re not on the pitch as much, or if you’re injured, or if your routine drops, then people can automatically start to forget you.

“Football has always been the same, but knowing him very well on football terms, and on a human level, he’s someone who will always excel.

“He’ll always surprise spectators because he has this strength of character, and this mental force,” Kondogbia continued. “He’s got everything going for him.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Monday, looking to cut the six-point gap that separates them from the Blues, who currently occupy the final Champions League berth.

Last month, images emerged of Pogba wearing one of Kondogbia’s Valencia shirts as he took his first steps on the road to recovery following ankle surgery, and the duo have been close since starring together for France’s youth teams.

Together, they won the 2013 U-20 World Cup together for France, with both finding the net en route to the final in Istanbul seven years ago.

“I have great memories of this World Cup,” the former Internazionale powerhouse continued. “I remember that we were a great group of friends who’d known each other since we were 13 or 14, having played against each other in youth football.

“I was at Lens, Paul was at Le Havre, [Jean-Christophe] Bahebeck was at Paris Saint-Germain, and [Ivory Coast international] Axel Ngando was at Rennes,” he concluded. “So it was like a reunion.

“It went well because, above all, we were friends who were passionate about football. We just wanted to have fun like kids who want to play in the playground or outside his house after school.
